Mobile and licensed, serving the Canada Line growth corridor — newer condos, townhomes, and mixed-use buildings from Capstan to Alexandra Way.
West Cambie is one of Richmond's newest and fastest-growing neighbourhoods, shaped almost entirely by transit-oriented development along the Canada Line. The area runs along No. 3 Road and branches east toward Alexandra Road, and it's dominated by recent high-density construction: concrete condo towers, low-rise wood-frame strata buildings, and purpose-built townhome complexes. Streets like Capstan Way, Hollybridge Way, and the developing blocks around Alexandra Way define the neighbourhood's spine.
Because the housing stock here is largely post-2010 construction, the lock hardware is more standardized than older Richmond areas. You'll see a lot of Schlage B-series deadbolts, Kwikset SmartKey cylinders, and increasingly, factory-installed electronic or keypad locks on developer-spec'd units. SmartKey cylinders are convenient but present their own service scenarios — a cylinder that's been rekeyed multiple times may not reset cleanly, and we carry the tools to diagnose and repair SmartKey mechanisms on-site. When a SmartKey cylinder fails outright, we can replace it with a standard high-security Schlage cylinder that maintains the same door prep.
The condo towers along Hollybridge Way and the newer buildings near the Capstan Canada Line station (opening in this area) use building fob systems for common-area access, with individual deadbolts for suite entry. This mirrors the pattern across Richmond City Centre — and the service boundary is the same: we handle everything from the suite door inward; building fob issues go through the property manager. We also carry a range of keypad deadbolts suitable for these newer door preps if you want to eliminate keys entirely.
The townhome complexes between Garden City Road and No. 3 Road are largely 2010s and early 2020s builds. These strata townhomes generally have solid hardware, but we see calls for tenant changeover rekeying, lost key situations (where a full rekey is more economical than a lock change), and the occasional jammed lock on a patio door. Patio door latches in newer West Cambie townhomes are typically multi-point systems — if the latch is catching, it's usually a door alignment issue, not a lock issue, and we can diagnose and adjust on the same visit.
West Cambie is accessible from No. 3 Road heading north from City Centre, or from Alexandra Road heading west. The area is generally fast to reach outside of rush hour. Peak-period traffic on No. 3 Road between Cambie and Lansdowne can extend arrival times modestly — we'll give you an accurate window on the call. Quote first, drive second. You know what you're paying before anyone leaves the shop.
